(4 Days – 3 Nights) Mount Kenya Chogoria (Ascend) – Sirimon (Descent) Route
This 4-day Mount Kenya trek combines the scenic beauty of the Chogoria route ascent with the gentler Sirimon descent. Experience pristine lakes, alpine moorlands, waterfalls, and panoramic sunrise views from Point Lenana — a truly unforgettable mountain adventure.
Day 1: Nairobi – Mt Kenya Bandas (2,900m) – Lake Ellis (3,600m)
Depart Nairobi at 0800hrs, driving through the agricultural heartlands to Chogoria town for lunch. After lunch, proceed with a 4×4 vehicle to the edge of the bamboo forest for Kenya Forest Service check-in, and continue up to Bandas Camp (2,900m). Start your trek for 8 km (3 hrs) to Lake Ellis (3,600m). Arrive by mid-afternoon, enjoy evening tea, acclimatize, and prepare for dinner.
Day 2: Lake Ellis Campsite (3,600m) – Mintos Camp (4,200m)
Begin early after breakfast, trekking at an easy pace with breathtaking views. Lunch is served by a small stream before continuing for about an hour to reach Mintos Hut (4,200m). Spend the afternoon relaxing at camp or take a short 10-minute walk to the “Temple,” a stunning 150-meter vertical cliff. Enjoy evening tea and a warm meal — an early night is recommended for the summit attempt.
Day 3: Mintos – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Shipton – Old Moses (3,300m)
Wake up at 1:00 am for a pre-dawn summit push, starting between 2:00–3:00 am. Hike about 3.5 km (3 hours) to Point Lenana (4,985m), arriving at sunrise for magnificent views of the African landscape. Descend to Shipton Camp for breakfast, then continue for about 4 hours down to Old Moses Camp (3,300m), passing through picturesque moorlands.
Day 4: Shipton Camp (3,300m) – Sirimon Gate (2,800m) – Nairobi
After breakfast, descend for approximately 3 hours (9 km) to the Sirimon Gate. Meet your driver for the 3–4 hour journey back to Nairobi, arriving around 5:00 pm — marking the end of your unforgettable Mount Kenya expedition.
