(4 Days – 3 Nights) Mount Kenya Naromoru (Ascend) – Naromoru (Descent) Route
Embark on a thrilling 4-day adventure climbing Africa’s second-highest mountain via the scenic Naromoru route. This trek combines lush forests, high moorlands, and alpine peaks — offering a truly unforgettable experience.
Day 1: Nairobi – Naromoru Gate (2,400m) – Met Station (3,050m)
Pick up from your hotel or home in Nairobi early in the morning and depart at 0800hrs, heading north through the central highlands to Naromoru town. After a short briefing and lunch in town, proceed to Naromoru Gate (2,400m) to begin the trek. Hike through lush montane forest filled with wildlife and scenic views to Met Station (3,050m), where you will set up camp for the night. Enjoy a warm meal and relax by the campfire before retiring for the night.
Day 2: Met Station (3,050m) – Mackinder’s Camp (4,200m)
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a 5–6 hour hike. Ascend through the forest zone into the unique moorland filled with giant lobelias and groundsels. Along the way, take in the stunning views of the mountain and valleys. Arrive at Mackinder’s Camp (4,200m) by mid-afternoon. After lunch, spend the rest of the day acclimatizing and enjoying the breathtaking scenery. Dinner and overnight at Mackinder’s Camp.
Day 3: Mackinder’s Camp (4,200m) – Point Lenana (4,985m) – Met Station (3,050m)
Wake up early at 2:30 am for a pre-dawn summit attempt. Begin the ascent under the starry sky, aiming to reach Point Lenana (4,985m) by sunrise. Witness the spectacular sunrise over the African plains and marvel at distant views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Aberdare Ranges. After capturing memorable photos, descend back to Mackinder’s Camp for a late breakfast, then continue to Met Station for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Met Station (3,050m) – Naromoru Gate (2,400m) – Nairobi
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and begin your descent through the forest to Naromoru Gate. Celebrate your successful trek before boarding your vehicle for the drive back to Nairobi. Arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your unforgettable Mount Kenya adventure.
