Park and conservancy fees help fund rangers, anti-poaching work and habitat protection. When you stay in community conservancies bordering parks such as the Masai Mara, part of your fee goes directly to local landowners, giving families a reason to protect wildlife on their land.
Our driver-guides and mountain crews are Kenyan and East African professionals, and we work with locally owned camps and lodges wherever possible. That keeps more of what you spend in the communities you visit.
Our guides keep a respectful distance, stay on designated tracks, never feed animals and limit the number of vehicles at a sighting. Please support them - a calm, patient sighting is better for the animals and usually better for your photos too.
Kenya banned single-use plastic bags in 2017, and protected areas restrict other single-use plastics. Bring a refillable water bottle - we provide drinking water in the vehicle - and choose camps that use solar power, recycle water and manage waste responsibly. We are happy to recommend some.
We only arrange community and village visits where the hosts set the terms and benefit directly. Ask before taking photos, buy crafts directly from the people who make them, and treat the visit as a chance to learn rather than a show.
Travel in the green season to spread visitor numbers, stay longer in fewer places to cut down on driving, and consider combining your safari with a rail journey on the Nairobi-Mombasa train rather than a domestic flight. Tell us what matters to you and we will build it into your itinerary.
