Rhinos were wiped out in Uganda decades ago, and Ziwa Sanctuary is where they are being brought back. On this day trip from Kampala you join a ranger to track southern white rhinos on foot through the sanctuary's grassland and woodland, getting close enough to watch them graze while learning about the reintroduction programme. If you have time, add a canoe ride through the Lugogo swamp to look for the prehistoric-looking shoebill stork.
